What is Buckwheat

Despite the name, buckwheat is not related to wheat nor is it a grass, it is in fact closely related to rhubarb and sorrel. The name 'buckwheat' or 'beech wheat' comes from its triangular seeds, which resemble the much larger seeds of the beech nut from the beech tree, and the fact that it is used like wheat. It is one of the most versatile gluten free grains central to many international recipes from Japanese soba noodles, Eastern European Kasha to French galettes and has been used for centuries across the world as a staple food.

What are Flax Seeds

Flaxseed, or linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.), comes from the flax plant, which is an annual herb. The plant thrives in deep moist soils rich in sand, silt, and clay. The small, oval-shaped seeds of the flax plant are the richest sources of plant-based omega-3 fatty acids, called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) in the world! The ancient Egyptians used flaxseed as both food and medicine and today it is once again revered as a very nutritious and exciting seed.
