CONDITIONS

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis is an inflammation caused by excessive stretching of the plantar fascia that connects the heel bone to the toe. It is the most common cause of heel pain for which professional care is sought.

Repetitive stretching and tearing can cause the fascia to become irritated or inflamed. Plantar Fasciitis often leads to heel pain, heel spurs, and/or arch pain. Factors that cause this condition include obesity, pregnancy, being flat-footed, having a high arch, etc. Runners and those who wear shoes with inadequate support are at a higher risk.
Without treatment, it may become a chronic condition. The level of activity will decrease while the symptoms of foot, knee, hip and back problems will worsen.
